The Walking Dead

I don’t like Zombies. I don’t like slasher movies. I don’t like to see blood and guts on TV or in movies. I don’t want to see eyeballs poked out nor do I want to see an ax go through someone’s skull.

I cringed through an entire “Jason” movie years ago and I think I made it through the first Saw Movie. The first Nightmare on Elm Street was about as scary as I could deal with. When the going gets tough, I leave the room. I don’t care if people say it’s only makeup or special effects, I know those kind of visuals will haunt me for months, so why put myself through it?

Then…one Sunday night, Kevin tells me he is going to watch The Walking Dead on AMC and asked if I wanted to watch too? I exclaimed loudly that I would not watch any show that had anything to do with the Walking Dead. I muttered about how ridiculous it was, that people even made shows like this and that people must be stupid if they watch that kind of stuff.

The show started and I was ignoring it, working on my laptop. I found myself looking up from time to time and getting intrigued by the story. By the end of the first show I was already asking questions about “who was who”, etc. By the second show I was hooked.

DAMN IT! I LOVE The Walking Dead! I don’t know why I like this show because it has everything in it that I don’t want to watch. I guess it’s the interaction amongst the cast that intrigues me…they aren’t separated by the good and the bad, because each of them has some sort of bad in them.

The Walking DeadThe newest season starts up again on February 10th and I can’t wait for it to begin. The Zombies and the killing is still a little bit too much to deal with but I’ll keep half an eye open through those parts, and fully enjoy the rest of the episodes.

For those of you who are into Zombies, there is actually an Android app called “Zombies, Run.” Apparently this app attempts to make running and training fun, by turning it into a game. It is designed to immerse you in the experience and make you feel like you are being chased by zombies while you are running, the idea being that you will be motivated to run faster and harder. Check out “Zombies, Run” on Google Apps and be sure to watch The Walking Dead on AMC.
